COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN
coming down the mountain
The clip from Coming Down the Mountain shows the stereotype of somebody with a mental disability. The first shot is a birds eye view of the bedroom. this shot showed the boy was thinking they used a dolly shot to to show the distance in thoughts between the two brothers The disabled brother's side of the room has bright colours which shows that he is childish and his brother side of the room is dull and he has a bring me the horizon poster on his wall which shows that he is not childish. This shot makes the audience believe that the disabled brother doesn't act his age, This reinforces the stereotype of vulnerable because a child is vulnerable. you also see the disabled brother learning to ride a bike which shows that he is a child.

in the next scene they use a pre-evolutionary flash back of a dinosaur and fish and then they use a close up on the disabled brothers face to make the audience think that the brother hasnt fully evolved yet which reinforces the stereotype of the disabled brother being ugly and his brother calls him a "potato with eye tentacles". when the disabled brother says that he needs a poo and the dad tells the able bodied brother to go help him shows that the disabled brother cannot take care of himself and this makes the audience feel sorry for the able bodied brother for putting up with his brother.
when the disabled brother eats all of the cereal it makes you feel sorry for the other brother because when the brother tells the disabled brother that he did something wrong the mum and dad get annoyed that the brother had an argument with his disabled which shows that the disabled brother is different and can get away with more than the able bodied brother gets away with.
There are then shot shots of outside scenes. One of these scenes shows the able-bodied brother prentending to shoot his disabled brother. This shows his vulnerability because it makes it seem to the audience that he is an easy target and could easily be attacked the able bodied brother says that his brother always needs someone with him to stop sickos from dragging him off to their sex dungeons.
they use a lot of long shots for the disabled brother to make the audience feel distance from him to show that he is different and not normal.
the clip is shot in a built up area and the costumes show that the disabled brother does not dress himself but the able bodied brother does to show that the disabled brother cannot take care of himself
ethnicity
In the hotel babylon clip it shows the representation of
ethnicity. The people at the start of the clip are all looking like they have
money and a good job because they are all in business wear like suits and it
shows that they are upper class.most of the people look like they are white and
British. When they show the people who are of a different ethnicity, they are
shown wearing uniforms which shows that they work as the jobs that are not
important. They are also downstairs to everyone else to show that they are
lower than the rest. There is a shot showing all the workers locked in the
stock room, this reinforces that they are unified.
The shot reverse shot at the beginning between the
receptionist and the migration police, uses composition to show that the men have the power. To reinforce the
ethnic stereotype that they are unified, a black man in the reception looks up
from his newspaper to see what is happening this implies his concern for the
workers. They use a medium shot to show that the black man is alone and when the
migration police find them it looks like it is white people versus the black
people. The only sound is diagetic and that is the sound of the hoover. This
tells the audience that the immigrants have to do cleaning and jobs like that
because they are not intelligent enough but when the immigrants are locked in
the room the other black man says that he is a doctor and this shows that the
immigrants do not get to the chances that the white people get.
There is a tracking shot showing the immigrants running
through the hotel, suggesting they are in danger. This also shows they are
discriminated against as they are only working and not committing a crime. all
of the workers speak different languages this shows that its that the migrant
workers are racist to all ethnic groups other than white people not just one.
The white men from migration control, are shown taking the
black worker out of the building. He is in clear distress as he moves a lot
trying to break free, this makes the audience pity him as his freedom is being
taken away.when the woman takes the black mans possessions it seems like it is
a common thing for the immigrant workers and all of them thought of the black
man as family.

coming down the mountain
In the coming down the mountain they used to challenge the stereotype of the disabled boy being a freak. in the clip the other brother is the one you feel sympathy for because he has to put up with his brother which challenges the stereotype but usually you feel sorry for the disabled boy. the stereotype reinforces the disability stereotype because it is fast paced and childish which makes the disabled boy look like a kid. the abled body brother calls his brother a big potato with eye tentacles. the location is a built up area in a normal household. when the brother takes all the cereal the parents don't really say anything but if it was the normal brother they would of said something to him but because its the disabled brother they don't really care. the brother has to help him out with normal everyday things like going to the toilet which reinforces the stereotype of him being a freak.
this is an obvious difference between the two brothers they are shown as opposites which reinforces the stereotype of the disabled brother being different. at the end they show the able bodied brother drawing but you also see the disabled brother learning to ride a bike which shows that his incapable. the video is a quick paced.
with the abled body brother they use a lot of close ups they use a lot of close ups to show his youth and beauty, and with the disabled brother they use a lot of close ups to show his youth but they use it to show that he is ugly. at the beginning of the clip they use a dolly shot to show that the brother is thinking. the clothes that they are wearing the able bodied brother looks like he dressed himself, but the disabled brother looks like his parents have dressed him.

age
Media essay
The clip reinforces the stereotype of age for the young adults because the young girl is being rebellious and is acting recklessly the mature adult is very sensible so he reinforces his stereotype but the old people challenge theirs because the stereotype for an old person is that they are stuck at home all day on their own but in this clip they are all together working.
Where the clip is set you know that it's a adult area because it's in the countryside and that's a very traditional masculine place, the young girl challenges and reinforces her stereotype because all though she is acting reckless about her relationship she isn't out at a party doing drugs with her friends. Where she lives it shows that she must challenge her stereotype.
The young boy challenges his stereotype of age because he is out doing the same thing as the older men and not acting reckless he is acting mature and working instead of being out doing reckless things, the music in the clip so very slow and old to show that it is populated by old people.
There is a lot of close ups to the young girls face to show her youth and she is the only one wearing a different type of costume everyone else is working dull and boring work clothes but she is dressed like a child. but they also do a close up the old man in the car which challenges his stereotype because old people are meant to be in a long shot.
