coming down the mountain
In the coming down the mountain they used to challenge the stereotype of the disabled boy being a freak. in the clip the other brother is the one you feel sympathy for because he has to put up with his brother which challenges the stereotype but usually you feel sorry for the disabled boy. the stereotype reinforces the disability stereotype because it is fast paced and childish which makes the disabled boy look like a kid. the abled body brother calls his brother a big potato with eye tentacles. the location is a built up area in a normal household. when the brother takes all the cereal the parents don't really say anything but if it was the normal brother they would of said something to him but because its the disabled brother they don't really care. the brother has to help him out with normal everyday things like going to the toilet which reinforces the stereotype of him being a freak.
this is an obvious difference between the two brothers they are shown as opposites which reinforces the stereotype of the disabled brother being different. at the end they show the able bodied brother drawing but you also see the disabled brother learning to ride a bike which shows that his incapable. the video is a quick paced.
with the abled body brother they use a lot of close ups they use a lot of close ups to show his youth and beauty, and with the disabled brother they use a lot of close ups to show his youth but they use it to show that he is ugly. at the beginning of the clip they use a dolly shot to show that the brother is thinking. the clothes that they are wearing the able bodied brother looks like he dressed himself, but the disabled brother looks like his parents have dressed him.

  1. This is how much you are expected to write in 45 minutes: http://leighmediaas12tvdrama.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/exemplar-peer-mark-against-this.html

There are some relevant points here but if this is an honest response to seeing the clip 4 times, revising the sterotypes and applying what we did in class in terms of predicting the elements you would always see and using notes made from the A3 sheets, written under a timed 45 minute exam conditions I am really concerned and it is urgent you see myself and your mentor partner to support your performance.

If this is not the case, you need to step up to the expectations of AS level by preparing for lessons and assessments to show an honest picture of what you can do. I cannot help you if you do not help yourself.

    Current:

    AAE 6/20
    EX 6/20
    T 3/10

    To improve:
Revise & apply your terminology using the blog
Look at the exemplars for how much needs to be written in 45 mins
Revise your notes taken in class for what to write about
REDO THE ASSESSMENT (along with the Age and Ethnicity due for Thursday)
See me for further improvements if the above has no impact
